STUDIO ASSISTANT

Freelance Basis - 1 -2 days a week. Bristol-based.

Mid-October - mid-December - with potential for regular work in the new year.

I’m in need of some help!

I have made a LOT of work & the majority of it is not online. Cash flow management doesn’t seem to be my forte & now I need help to get a HUGE Sample Sale on the website for mid-November. Maybe some work online before that, too?!

I need someone who will work with me & sometimes independently from my Kingswood Studio. This location may change over the coming months & sometimes you may be able to work remotely if appropriate.

Key responsibilities:

Photographing jewellery - attention to detail is key, but there’s also a lot to work through, so I need efficiency! I can show you how to use my camera, my lightbox & how I photograph my various designs effectively.
Selecting the best from the photos & editing them. I will show you how I do this, so we can edit them to be a consistent set of images. (You will need your own laptop!)
Grouping the images into folders of designs & styles.
Counting pieces & doing inventory checks for these web launches.
Uploading the products into Squarespace efficiently - experience in e-commerce is preferred but not essential.
Writing, copying & tweaking text & descriptions on the website.
Organising & packing orders. I will show you how I prepare, pack & post orders out.
Potentially hand-delivering parcels to a nearby depot.
Able to jump from task to task as & when needed. From a bit of production, to some online work, to some packing etc.
Must be happy to help me rein in the chaos of the studio & help out with some general cleaning & tidying. Don’t worry - you won’t become my Cinderella!
I may need help constructing orders with wire wrapping, jump rings & small tweaks. I can teach you this but if you have some basic jewellery making skills, that’s a bonus.
If you want to get involved creatively & practically I am open to this. I can teach you skills & you can learn from me as I move through various tasks.

I need someone who is curious, engaged & hard-working. I need my helper to be trustworthy, respectful & someone who has a sense of fun. The studio is a chaos land. It’s full of things I’ve been collecting & hoarding. I am potentially entering a new phase of my small business, making some big changes, maybe moving premesis & navigating some big girl business stuff (yuck!). I need a reliable assistant to help me achieve these things. The first part is shifting some of the many things I have in the studio - a mega Sample Sale!

Attention to detail is key. You must be able to take instruction & work efficiently for us to bosh through the tasks as a pair. I am patient & I can teach you lots of things & I’m sure I’ll learn from you, too.
