Bow Necklace

A textural large bow to wear about your neck so that you look & feel oh so pretty. This piece is a simple and bold statement necklace, one which can be layered or worn alone. It’s inspired by romantic jewellery from the 18th & 19th centuries, & the frills, ribbons and excessive (fabulous!) ornamentation of those eras.

I have selected a delicious large tear-shaped pearl to drip from the ribbon. But this is an optional extra - if you want just the metal, please let me know.

The Bow was sculpted from soft sheets of jewellers wax and then turned into raw golden brass using the ancient production method of lost-wax-casting - it’s magic!
Inspired by romantic jewellery of the Georgian and Victorian periods, this piece was originally created for a collaboration with Renli Su.
The bow, the chain and the clasp is made from raw golden brass.
Use the chunky bolt clasp at the rear to fasten this necklace.
This chain is vintage deadstock which I have reconditioned - the wide links allow you to fasten it shorter & have more length options!
I have a few of these bows already cast & ready to be assembled to your required length. Then these will be made to order & casting can take up to 4 weeks.

Care:

This hefty amulet and the chain are both made from brass! Brass is a gorgeous golden material and a brilliant alternative to solid gold as it will always buff back to being golden and bright. Brass is a base metal composed of copper and zinc and it does naturally oxidise and darken over time. It requires some maintenance to keep it clean or to shine it up for a special occasion.

The care card in your order and white foam polishing pad provided will help you maintain your brass jewellery. You can also buy brass dip and brass wire brushes to scrub across the chain to lift any oxidation. If you ever want to have your piece plated in Fairmined Gold, that can be organised! :)

It’s best to remove this piece whilst swimming and bathing as water will encourage oxidation. Perfumes, creams and lotions will also affect the colour, however it’s easy enough to clean up if you need to.
