New Years Wax Workshop

NEW YEARS WAX WORKSHOP!

Saturday 17th January 11am - 4pm

Above St Nicholas Market in the centre of the Old Town. The Corn Exchange, Corn St, Bristol BS1 1JQ.

Join me to learn how to sculpt jewellery from wax in the heart of Bristol.

During this 4-hour workshop (we will have a lunch break 1-1.45pm)

I’ll introduce you to wax sculpture and the ancient art of lost-wax-casting for jewellery making. You’ll get to explore and try a variety of waxes and tools, before we begin sculpting as a group.

You will learn the basics of wax carving and even learn about different waxes and techniques. We will mostly be using a softer wax which is malleable and more accessible to use but I will have plenty of other options, too!

Please note this is not a ring making workshop.

You will leave with a little wax design that is up to a max of 5cm in size. If you want me to turn your creation into polished and wearable metal there are more options. Finished metal creations will be ready for you by the end of February.

What’s included?

  • A 4-hour introduction to wax sculpture for jewellery.

  • For a £50 ticket you can learn and make something (to keep) from wax - it’s FUN! I can give you recommendations of casters for you to transform your piece into metal. (This is the base price to help me cover the rent of this space. I have sadly had to hand my notice in on this space but I have rent to cover til the end of January.)

  • For a £150 ticket you can make a raw brass jewel up to 5cm x 5cm. (Delivered or collected end of Feb).

  • For a £200 ticket you can make a recycled sterling silver jewel max 3cm x 3cm which will weigh up to 7.7g in sterling silver. (Delivered or collected end of Feb).

  • Please note this is not a ring carving workshop but an intro to jewellery making from wax. I can help you attach loops to make pendants or they can be lil sculptures.

  • This 5 hour workshop will run from 11am - 4pm above St Nicks Market. The Corn Exchange, Corn St, Bristol BS1 1JQ. We will be taking a break from 1pm - 1.45pm.

  • You will be able to pop into my studio space to peruse objects and jewellery and art books for inspiration. I have lots of different tools for you to explore, and a variety of different jewellers wax for you to model from.

Please note:

  • There are limited places available at this workshop.

  • If you want to make a chunky and heavy piece it will cost more. Additions and alternative materials can be discussed at the workshop or on email beforehand. roo@museeroo.co.uk .

  • Tickets are non-refundable but if you email me to cancel your place with 5 days notice then I can try to fill your space and you can use the amount paid on a piece on jewellery or book into my future session.

Accessibility:

Unfortunately the space isn’t accessible for wheelchair users and those who find stairs challenging. If you have accessibility needs please contact me at roo@museeroo.co.uk as I can potentially host you at my accessible studio in Kingswood for a private workshop. I don’t want accessibility needs to stop anyone from taking part in the wax party.

If you have a low income and a discount would help make the £50 base line ticket more accessible to you, please email me at roo@museeroo.co.uk <3
