Ex Vo Heart Kilt Pin

The Ex Voto of the flaming heart symbolises devotion, love, and gratitude. What a beautiful gift to give to yourself, or to somebody you love.In Christian tradition Ex Votos were given as offerings to the saints or the divine, and this particular symbol appears across centuries of religious art. This custom of gift-giving to saints, deities, or spirits can be traced back millennia to Mesopotamia and Egypt in the ancient near-east. The tradition continued into pagan Rome and then into early Christianity, blossoming in the medieval period. In modern day Mexico flaming hearts are still commonly worn and used as religious lucky charms called Milagros.

I’ve suspended this flaming heart from a vintage dead-stock kilt pin which has been made from raw golden brass. I’ve carefully selected two juicy reclaimed gemstones to keep it company - a spicy sprig of vintage coral & a polished globule of carnelian agate.

Details:

• Kilt pin measures 62 mm in length. About 2.5 inches. Vintage deadstock made from raw brass.

• Features a cast brass Venus amulet hand-sculpted & cast in the UK.

• Featuring a branch of vintage coral and a large drop of polished red carnelian agate.

• The metal wire wrappings & jump rings are 14ct filled gold.

• Polishing cloth supplied.

• I can make about 3 of these but the coral branches and carnelian drops will slightly differ as they’re natural forms.
