This golden Charm Necklace is a lucky token, a journey & protective piece of art to be worn. It features a cast Romano-British coin of Emperor Licinus & a clutter of 20 reclaimed & recycled gemstones from faraway lands & seas.
Spy a vintage scarab, spicy branches of vintage coral, pops of blue lapis & a rainbow of recycled treasure.
Details:
Necklace Length: 18 inches. The pendant brings it to about 18.5 inches in length. Clip it securely onto the link to wear it shorter. Leave me a note at the checkout if you’d prefer another length. These chains come in 16 & 18 inches.
20 recycled gemstones: pearl, vintage coral, amber, lapis lazuli, fluorite, mother-of-pearl, antique glass, aquamarine, malachite, peridot, garnet & turquoise.
I sculpted this impression of a Roman coin by squashing the hot metal coin onto jewellers wax & I had it cast into raw brass using the ancient-rooted technique of lost-wax-casting.
CHOOSE YOUR CHARM: You can select the central amulet when you add this into the cart. You can tell me if you’d prefer the Emperor or the Dancing Satyr to face front.
The chain & all of the metal details are made from 14ct Filled Gold - a thick layer of gold is pressure bonded onto base metal. Filled gold is a more durable alternative to gold plate or vermeil.
This design is repeatable. I have enough of these recycled gemstones & castings to make a very small limited edition stash of them.
They will vary ever so slightly due to the organic nature of the gemstones. I will match the colour palette & as many stones as possible.
Please allow me up to 2 weeks to make this before I wrap & post it out. It’s just a Roo in the studio.
Care:
If you've chosen a piece that has a mix of cast brass amulets on a gold filled or gold-rolled chain, you'll need to treat these elements differently when caring for your jewels.
You'll receive a small white polishing pad with your order to be used on the brass amulets. Please refrain from using this pad on the chain, it’s quite abrasive & is only meant for your brass.
The gold on the chain is pressure bonded onto base metal, rather than just electroplated on the top. This gold bond is much thicker than plating, and the 14ct gold of this chain makes up 5% of the total piece. You shouldn’t need to polish your chain.
Don’t wear your charm piece in water & store it dry. Avoid getting any cosmetics, perfumes & chemicals on your treasure to prolong the life of the gold & to keep your gemstones at their best.
